Note: Lofty is rolling out in stages. Depending on the version your account is on, some features or screens described in this article may look different or may not yet be available to you.
Introduction
This article answers common questions about connecting and managing MLS feeds on your Lofty IDX website.
How do I start an MLS application if I've already set up my site?
There are two entry points:
Option 1 — Listings Page: Go to the main Listings dashboard in your Lofty account and use the Add MLS option there.
Option 2 — CMS Listings tab: Open the Website CMS > Listings > MLS Integration and click + Add New MLS.
See [How to Connect Your MLS to Your IDX Website] for the full step-by-step process.
Can I connect multiple MLSs to one Lofty IDX site?
Yes. There is no limit to the number of MLSs you can connect to a single Full SEO website — as long as there are no MLS compliance conflicts.
Navigation to add another MLS: CMS > Listings > MLS Integration > + Add New MLS.
Important: When two or more MLSs are connected to one site, the search bar on your website will search across all of them. Consider building a custom navigation or separate search pages for each MLS to give visitors a better search experience.
If I have multiple MLSs, how are duplicate listings handled?
The system automatically detects and removes duplicate listings based on property address. It attempts to handle minor formatting differences between MLS feeds (for example, "Street" vs. "St" or "Road" vs. "Rd").
This de-duplication is automated — not perfect. Some duplicates may still appear on your website. This is a known limitation when combining multiple MLS feeds on a single site.
What is VOW, and how is it treated on my Lofty website?
VOW stands for Virtual Office Website. Some MLS data is available only through a VOW feed (separate from the standard IDX feed). VOW feeds typically include additional listing data but require specific compliance rules to access it.
On Lofty websites, VOW data is displayed only to registered site visitors. Visitors who have not registered will see a prompt to create an account before accessing VOW listing data. This ensures your site remains compliant with the MLS's VOW requirements.
How do I check the status of my MLS application?
Go to Website > Listings in your CMS. The MLS dashboard shows all your applications and their current status.
You can sort and filter by: - Status: All, Awaiting Signature, MLS Processing, Lofty Processing, Incomplete Application, Active - Agent - MLS - Application start time
My MLS has a data-sharing agreement with another MLS. Can I access that MLS too?
Yes. If your MLS has a formal data-sharing agreement with another MLS, Lofty will automatically integrate that MLS's listings into your IDX website. You will receive an email notification when this integration is complete — no additional application is needed on your end.
My MLS has more search filters than what I see on Lofty. Can those be added?
Yes, additional MLS-specific filter fields can be added to your website. Because Lofty works with many different MLSs and their field structures vary, not all fields are mapped by default.
To request additional filters: Email support@lofty.com with: - A list of the filter fields you want added - Screenshots directly from your MLS showing those fields
Once the list and screenshots are received, adding the fields typically takes a few business days.
A homeowner asked me to remove their listing photos from my site. What should I do?
Photos on your IDX website come directly from the MLS feed alongside the listing data. If a homeowner wants their photos removed:
- Ask them to contact their listing agent or the MLS directly to remove the photos from the MLS IDX feed. This will update them on all connected IDX sites.
- If that doesn't resolve the issue, contact Lofty Support at support@lofty.com. Lofty can remove the images from your site but cannot guarantee complete removal across all platforms.
How do I exclude listings from other states or brokerages?
Use the Global Listing Filters feature. See [Global Listing Filters] for full instructions.
In brief: Website > Listings > MLS Integration > click the Edit button on Total Listings > select the Office and/or State you want to include.
This configuration becomes available after at least one MLS application has been submitted.
