Introduction
Everyone will agree that videos are a great form of communication that can more easily reach a target audience by grabbing their attention. Currently, the ability to actually embed a video is not a feature in the Lofty CRM. This decision is mainly due to our intent to avoid various spam and security risks that have caused many major email systems to not allow for videos to be played directly from an email. The recommended workaround, however, is to insert a screenshot image of your video (ideally with a video "play" symbol on it) and hyperlink it so that it goes directly to the video for easy viewing. This will also allow you to upload bigger videos to your video server without having to worry about attachment size limitations for emails.
With Lofty's email template editor, you can add a video URL to your email templates to market to your customers. Below are the steps to do so.
Please reference the following article if the video is hosted on YouTube: How to Add a YouTube Video to Emails.
Take a Screenshot of the Video
Go to your video, take a screenshot of the video at a point where you like the image that appears, and then save that screenshot to your desktop. With this image, you can use it as is, or you can consider putting a "play" button on top of it to make it more video-like when added to an email. There are lots of ways to do this, but we found this free service called Create Play Button to Image Online with a quick internet search.
Insert Hyperlink
In your email template, click on the hyperlink icon and add the link for your video.
Upload Your Image
Insert the video preview image by clicking on the image icon with the inserted link still selected. Remember that the inserted link has to be selected in order for the hyperlink to become part of the image.
Adjust, Preview, and Save
Adjust the size of the image and add the rest of the content to the template. Click Preview to ensure it worked properly, then click Save. You can now proceed to send your video directly to your clients.
FAQ
What is the maximum file size for an email attachment?
The maximum size limit for email attachments is 2 MB. Depending on the size of the file, however, Lofty has two different methods of attachment outlined here:
-
- If the attachments uploaded are less than 2 MB, the email attachments will be added directly as an attachment to the email.
- If the attachments uploaded are more than 2 MB, Lofty will convert the attachments into download links that are then inserted into the email.
