Note: Lofty is rolling out in stages. Depending on the version your account is on, some features or screens described in this article may look different or may not yet be available to you.
Introduction
There are three ways to make significant changes to a Lofty website: reset, downgrade, or cancel. Each has a different outcome and different restrictions depending on your website type.
⚠️ These actions are irreversible. Once completed, Lofty cannot undo a reset, downgrade, or cancellation. Read carefully before proceeding.
Definitions
Reset — Removes all customized content and reverts the website to a blank template. The website remains active and keeps its domain and package — only the content is cleared.
Downgrade — Converts the website to a subdomain of its parent site. The website loses its current package level (Full SEO or Vanity Domain) and becomes a basic Agent Website.
Cancel — Permanently deletes the website and its package subscription. All subdomains built from this website are also deleted. This action ends billing for the website.
Before You Begin
Check your website type. Not every action is available for every website type. Review the table below before proceeding.
To find your website type, click Website in the Lofty left navigation, then check the Type column in the Site List.
You can only take action on websites you are paying for. You cannot reset, downgrade, or cancel a website that is paid for by another Lofty user.
Downgrade requirement. A website can only be downgraded if its parent site has a vanity domain configured. If the parent site's domain is not set up, the downgrade option will not be available.

How to Reset, Downgrade, or Cancel
- In the Lofty left navigation, click Website.
- In the Site List, click on the website you want to take action on to open it.
- Click the ... (more options) icon on the website to reveal the available actions.
- Select the action you want to take — Reset, Downgrade, or Cancel.
- A confirmation dialog appears. To verify your identity and intent, a verification code will be sent to the email address of the website owner. Enter the code to proceed.
- A final confirmation screen appears summarizing what will happen. Review it carefully.
If cancelling: You will be asked whether to cancel immediately or at the end of the current billing month.
- Confirm to complete the action.
⚠️ This action is immediate and permanent once confirmed. Lofty cannot restore a website after it has been reset, downgraded, or cancelled.
What Happens After Each Action
After a Reset: Your website's content is cleared and reverted to a blank template. The domain, MLS connection, and package remain active. You can start rebuilding from scratch using the page editor.
After a Downgrade: The website is converted to a basic Agent Website — a subdomain of its parent site. It loses its custom domain and Full SEO features. The content and pages may also be affected depending on the parent site's settings.
After a Cancellation: The website and all its subdomains are permanently deleted. Billing for the package ends on the date you chose (immediate or end of month). The domain is released. This cannot be undone.
Tips
- Save a version before resetting. Before you reset, use the version history tool to save a snapshot. While a restore won't recover custom content after a reset (the version tool restores editor states, not content from before a reset), it's still good practice.
- Consider hiding pages instead of resetting. If you just want to temporarily remove content, move pages to Hidden Navigation rather than resetting the entire site.
- Cancel at end of month to maximize your subscription value. If you're cancelling a paid package, choose "Cancel at end of month" to keep the site active through your already-paid billing period.
- Check for subdomains before cancelling. Cancelling a site also deletes all Agent Subdomains built from it. Make sure those agents are aware before you proceed.
Troubleshooting
The Downgrade option isn't showing in the ... menu. Either your website type doesn't support downgrades, or your parent site hasn't had a vanity domain configured. Check the permission table above and verify your parent site's domain settings.
I didn't receive the verification code email. Check your spam or junk folder. If it's not there, confirm that the email address on the website owner's Lofty account is correct, then contact Lofty Support.
I completed the action by mistake. Unfortunately, these actions cannot be reversed. Contact Lofty Support at support@lofty.com or 1 (855) 981-7557 immediately — while they may not be able to restore deleted content, the support team can advise on next steps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I cancel a Company Website? No. Company Websites cannot be cancelled or downgraded — they are the foundation of the Lofty account. You can reset a Company Website, but it remains active.
What happens to agent sites if I cancel their parent site? All Agent Subdomains built from the cancelled site are also deleted. Inform agents in advance and ensure they have a plan for their site before you cancel.
Will I receive a refund if I cancel mid-month? If you cancel immediately, the remaining days in the billing period are typically not refunded. To avoid this, choose "Cancel at end of month." For specific billing questions, contact Lofty Support or see [Billing Center].
Can I undo a reset if I decide I want my old content back? No. A reset permanently removes all customized content. If you're unsure, do not reset. Consider hiding unwanted pages or using the version history tool to save your current state before making changes.
Do I need admin access to cancel a website? You must be the account owner of the website you're cancelling — not just any admin. You also must be the one paying for the website package.
