Editing Your Website Navigation Bar (Lofty AOS)

Introduction

Your website's navigation bar is the menu at the top of every page — it's how visitors find their way around your site. The Navigation Bar editor lets you control which pages appear in the menu, in what order, and how they're organized. You can also create folders to group related pages under a dropdown.

Changes to the navigation don't go live until you click Publish.

Before You Begin

• The navigation is edited through the Pages panel in the CMS page editor.
• You must have already added pages to your site before you can organize them in the navigation. See [Adding and Managing Website Pages].
• All newly created pages go to the Hidden Navigation by default and will not appear on your live site until you move them to the Displayed Navigation.

Understanding the Navigation Structure

Displayed Navigation vs. Hidden Navigation

The Pages panel divides your pages into two sections:

Displayed Navigation (also called the Menu) — Pages in this section appear in your website's navigation bar. Visitors can see and click these links.

Hidden Navigation — Pages here exist on your site and have their own URLs, but they don't appear in the navigation menu. A visitor who has the direct link can still reach a hidden page — it's just not advertised in the menu. Use this section to store pages you're working on, seasonal pages you've temporarily removed, or utility pages you don't want in the main nav.

Pages, Folders, and Page Groups

Page — A single link that points to a specific URL. Pages can sit at the top level of the navigation (like "Home" or "About") or be nested inside a folder.

Folder — A navigation category that groups pages under a dropdown. When a visitor hovers over a folder, they see the pages inside it. Folders can be nested up to one additional level (a subfolder inside a folder). They are useful for organizing a large number of pages into logical categories.

Page Group — A collection of auto-generated pages that share the same layout but display different content. You don't add or manage Page Group content manually — these are system-generated. The five Page Group types are:

• Neighborhood Detail
• Property Detail
• Sold Property Detail
• Agent Detail
• Blog Detail

Moving Pages into the Navigation

To make a page visible on your site's navigation menu:

1. In the CMS page editor, click Pages in the left navigation.
2. In the Hidden Navigation section, find the page you want to show.
3. Drag and drop it up into the Displayed Navigation section.
4. Click Publish to apply the change to your live site.

To remove a page from the navigation without deleting it, drag it back down to the Hidden Navigation section.

Reordering Pages

Drag and drop pages within the Displayed Navigation to change their order in the menu. The order in the panel matches the order visitors see in the navigation bar.

Adding a Folder

Use folders to group related pages under a dropdown menu item.

1. In the Pages panel, click + Add Folder.
2. Type the folder name and press Enter on your keyboard.
3. The folder appears in the Hidden Navigation. Drag pages into the folder to nest them under it.
4. Drag the folder itself into the Displayed Navigation to make the dropdown visible on your site.
5. Click Publish.

Removing a Page from Agent Subdomains

If you manage a Company, Team, or Office website with Agent Subdomains beneath it, you can hide specific pages from those subdomains without removing them from your main site.

1. In the Pages panel, find the page you want to hide from Agent Subdomains.
2. Click Settings (or the settings icon) on that page row.

3. Uncheck the option to show the page on Agent Subdomains. 4. Save the setting. This removes the page from all Agent Subdomains at once — you cannot select individual subdomains.

Deleting a Page or Folder

To permanently delete a page or folder:

1. In the Pages panel, find the page or folder you want to delete.
2. Click Delete on that row.
3. Confirm the deletion.

If you want to remove a page from the navigation without deleting it, move it to the Hidden Navigation instead.

Tips

• Build the nav last. Add all your pages first, then organize the navigation in one focused session. It's easier than adjusting the nav after each page is added.
• Keep the top level simple. Aim for 5–7 top-level items in your Displayed Navigation. Use folders to group pages instead of listing everything at the top level — a clean, simple menu converts better.
• Hidden doesn't mean unfindable. Pages in the Hidden Navigation still have live URLs. If you don't want a page accessible at all, delete it rather than just hiding it.
• Use folders for neighborhoods and resources. If you have multiple neighborhood pages or resource pages, grouping them under a "Neighborhoods" or "Resources" folder keeps the menu clean.
• Publish after every nav change. Navigation changes only go live after you click Publish — don't forget this step after reordering or moving pages.

Troubleshooting

I moved a page to Displayed Navigation but it's not showing on my live site. Make sure you clicked Publish after making the change. Navigation changes go live only after publishing.

My folder shows in the nav but has no dropdown when I hover. The folder may be empty, or the pages inside it may be in the Hidden Navigation within the folder. Drag pages into the folder and make sure they appear under it in the Displayed Navigation.

I accidentally deleted a page. Unfortunately, page deletion cannot be undone. You will need to recreate the page from scratch. This is why we recommend moving pages to Hidden Navigation rather than deleting them unless you're certain.

The "Remove from Agent Subdomains" checkbox isn't available. This option only appears on pages that are eligible to be hidden. The following pages cannot be hidden from Agent Subdomains: Home, All Listings, Sold Listings, Home Valuation, Blogs, Market Snapshot, and all detail page types.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a page appear in more than one place in the navigation?

How many levels of folders can I nest? Folders support one level of nesting — a subfolder inside a folder. You cannot nest a folder inside a subfolder (no third level).

Can I rename a page directly in the navigation without going into page settings?

Do navigation changes affect Agent Subdomains automatically? Pages added to your Displayed Navigation will appear on Agent Subdomains by default unless you specifically remove them using the Agent Subdomain setting.
