Note: Lofty is rolling out in stages. Depending on the version your account is on, some features or screens described in this article may look different or may not yet be available to you.
Introduction
The registration pop-up is the form your website visitors see when they are prompted to register in order to access listing details and other features. Getting this right directly impacts how many visitors become leads in your CRM.
You control the pop-up's visual style, the content visitors see, which fields are required, and whether visitors can sign in with Google or Facebook.
How to Access Pop-up Settings
In the CMS, navigate to Lead Capture > Pop-up Style & Settings.
Step 1: Choose a Style
Three pop-up styles are available. Select your preferred style at the top of the settings panel.
Single Column — A vertically stacked, two-step registration form. Visitors first provide their email, then their name and phone.
Two Columns — A side-by-side two-step form. Similar flow to Single Column but with a wider layout.
One Step Column — A single-step form. All registration fields appear at once with no second step.
The content settings you configure next will vary depending on the style you select.
Step 2: Configure Content
For the Single Column and Two Columns styles, you configure content for two steps. For the One Step Column style, you configure one step only.
For each step, complete the following fields:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Background Color | The pop-up's background color for this step |
| Title | The heading text shown to the visitor |
| Description | Supporting text beneath the title |
| Button Text | The label on the submission/continue button |
| Thank You Message | The message shown after the visitor submits (final step only) |
Step 3: Registration Settings
Set which contact fields visitors must fill in.
- Email — Always required. Cannot be changed to optional.
- Name — Set as Required or Optional.
- Phone — Set as Required or Optional.
Tip: Setting both Name and Phone as Required increases data quality but reduces conversion volume. Setting them as Optional makes it easier for visitors to register, capturing more leads — including email-only registrations (see below).
Third-Party Registration (Google / Facebook One-Click)
You can offer visitors the option to register using their Google or Facebook account instead of filling in the form manually.
Note: Third-party registration options require a one-time manual setup by the Lofty Support Team. This is typically handled during account onboarding. If you don't see these options, contact Lofty Support at support@lofty.com.
To use Google Chrome One-Click Registration, the "Google" option must be checked and enabled on your forced registration settings.
Email-Only Lead Capture
Lofty automatically captures email-only leads when a visitor provides their email but doesn't complete full registration. This happens in two scenarios:
- A visitor enters their email in the Single Column or Two Columns form but backs out before providing their name and phone on step 2.
- A visitor clicks "Continue with Google" or "Continue with Facebook" but backs out before providing their phone number.
What happens when an email-only lead is captured: - There is a 5-minute built-in delay before the lead is saved - The lead is saved as "No Name" if no name was captured - The lead is automatically tagged "Lofty Email Lead" - The lead is automatically opted out of auto emails — you must opt them in before sending automated communications - The lead's source reflects how they found your website (not "Site Email Lead" — that logic was discontinued May 8, 2021)
Return visit logic: If a visitor previously provided their email but didn't finish registering, the next time they visit your site they are prompted once per day to provide their phone number to complete registration.
To toggle this feature on or off: Go to CMS > Settings > Lead Capture > Site Email Lead and toggle on or off.
Tips
- Start with Higher Conversion settings. Before fine-tuning the style and required fields, set your trigger rule to "Higher Conversion" (see [Registration Pop-up Trigger Rule]) and let the data guide your next adjustments.
- Keep your Title short and value-focused. "See Full Listing Details," "Get Instant Access," or "Save Your Favorite Homes" outperform generic headings like "Create an Account."
- Make Name and Phone optional initially. Email-only leads are still leads — you can follow up and gather more info over time.
- Review email-only leads regularly. These visitors showed enough interest to start registering. A well-timed personal outreach can convert them.
Troubleshooting
The registration pop-up isn't appearing on my site. Check your Trigger Rule settings — the pop-up may be set to appear after several listing views. See [Registration Pop-up Trigger Rule]. Also confirm that the registration pop-up is enabled (not disabled) in your settings.
I'm not receiving email-only leads. Check that the Site Email Lead feature is toggled ON in CMS > Settings > Lead Capture > Site Email Lead. Also ensure your Trigger Rule and pop-up settings allow for email-only capture scenarios.
The "Continue with Google" button isn't appearing. Third-party registration options require setup by the Lofty Support Team. Contact support@lofty.com to confirm your account has this enabled.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I have different pop-up settings on different pages? The registration pop-up settings apply site-wide. You cannot have different styles or required fields per page.
What does "opted out" mean for email-only leads? Opted-out means Lofty's automated email campaigns will not send to this lead until they are manually opted in. You can still contact them personally. See [Email Opt-In Status] for details.
Can a visitor permanently dismiss the pop-up? Visitors who complete registration won't see the pop-up again on your site. Visitors who dismiss or ignore it will see it again based on your Trigger Rule settings.
