How does the AI Sales Agent Work?
The Sales Agent is a multi-channel AI assistant that works across three channels simultaneously:
| Channel | What the AI Sales Agent does |
| Website Chat | Powers the chat box on your Lofty website to engage and capture new visitors in real time. |
| Text (SMS) | Texts new leads as they arrive in Lofty CRM and follows up with existing leads when they meet your enrollment criteria. |
| Reads and replies to emails sent to your configured Sending Email address, keeping conversations alive automatically. |
The Sales Agent’s goal is to qualify leads, complete their profile, and hand off warm, ready-to-talk leads to the assigned agent.
The Sales Agent will not work on leads in the following situations:
- The lead is a Hidden Lead (see Lead Privacy: Company Leads vs. Personal Leads), unless the individual agent has their own Sales Agent subscription.
- The lead has a wrong number, DNC number, or landline phone number.
- The lead had no phone number when first added to Lofty, even if a number is added later.

Activating Your AI Sales Agent
The Sales Agent is activated through a streamlined one-step setup card. Here’s how to get started:
Step 1: Access the Sales Agent Page
Navigate to AI Copilots > Sales Agent in your Lofty CRM. If you have not yet activated Sales Agent, you will see a Branding Page with an activation card.
Step 2: Review the Activation Card
The activation card walks you through all required configuration in a single, guided view before Sales Agent goes live. You’ll configure:
- Agent Identity: Set your Sales Agent’s name and virtual phone number.
- Channels: Choose which communication channels (Chat, Text, Email) you want Sales Agent to use.
- Lead Enrollment Rules: Define which leads Sales Agent will work on based on pipeline stage, source, lead type, and more.
- Review Inline Settings: Make any final adjustments before going live.
Step 3: Activate
Once you’ve reviewed all settings, click Activate. Your Sales Agent will begin working immediately according to the enrollment rules you set. You’ll land on an Activation Success screen confirming Sales Agent is live.
Company vs. Individual Sales Agent
Sales Agent is available at both the Company level and the individual Agent level.
Company-Level SA: Works on all visible leads across your account. Powers the chat box on all Lofty websites and texts leads matching your enrollment criteria. Cannot access agents’ hidden leads.
Individual Agent SA: Purchased by individual agents. Can work on their personal (hidden) leads.
Configuring Your AI Sales Agent
After initial activation, you can update any setting at any time by going to AI Copilots > Sales Agent > Settings.
Assistant Profile
The Assistant Profile controls how your Sales Agent appears and communicates.
- Assistant Name: Give your Sales Agent a name that is different from any real team member. This prevents confusion when leads are handed off.
- Virtual Number: The phone number Sales Agent uses to text leads. Texts from this number do not count against your text limit. Assigning the number to a 10DLC campaign is critical for SMS deliverability.
- Call Forwarding: Optionally connect leads who call the virtual number to a live person. Options: Disabled, Forward to Assigned Agent, or Forward to a Custom Number.
- Email Address: The Sales Agent sends email from it's own email address that matches the Sales Agent's name and uses your sending domain.
Working Strategy
Working Strategy settings control how proactively the Sales Agent communicates with your leads.
- Engage Style — Controls how frequently the AI reaches out. Choose from Proactive, Balanced, or Reserved. See the Qualification Process article for details on how each style behaves.
- Handle Rental Inquiries — Enable to have Sales Agent qualify renters and recommend rental properties. Disable to have it politely decline rental inquiries — these leads will not count toward your quota.
- Real Estate Experience Prompt — Enter a custom prompt to coach the Sales Agent’s tone and personality. Include details like your market, years in business, team name, and communication style preferences.
Enabled Channels
Toggle individual communication channels on or off. All channels are enabled by default.
- Website Chat Box — Powers the chat experience on your Company website and all connected Agent websites. Note: The Sales Agent replaces the standard Chat Box widget but has its own independent settings.
- Text Channel — Enables SMS follow-up for new and existing leads. You can set Active Hours (the time window SMS can be sent) and Active Days. Reducing active hours may limit the Sales Agent’s ability to respond to real-time lead activity.
- Email Channel — Enables the Sales Agent to send and reply to emails.
Activation Settings (Enrollment Rules)
Enrollment settings define which leads the Sales Agent will work on. You can filter by:
- Lead Source — Default is “Any.” Toggle individual sources to limit the Sales Agent to specific lead origins.
- Lead Type — Default includes all types. Narrow to Buyers, Sellers, Renters, or Other.
- Pipeline — Select which pipeline stages are eligible. All stages are included by default.
- Agent — Enable or disable Sales Agent for specific agents in your organization.
- Office — Enable or disable Sales Agent for specific teams or offices.
- Lead Pond — Enable or disable Sales Agent for specific Lead Ponds.

How do Sales Agent Emails work?
Sales Agent has full context of your lead - from their search preferences, to any communication you or the Sales Agent have had with the lead. When a lead reaches out by email, the Sales Agent can reply to continue the conversation on your behalf. Sales Agent can respond to emails in 15 seconds.
You can enable or disable the email channel in Sales Agent Settings. The Sales Agent will read and respond to emails sent to the Sales Agent email address that is configured in its settings.
Here is a sample email sent from the Sales Agent:
Sales Agent Overview Page
The Sales Agent overview gives you clear insights into how AI is helping your business. You can also see all leads Sales Agent is actively working on and mute them directly on this page.
- Total Engaged: Number of leads contacted via text, chat, or email
- Total Contacted: Total outreach messages sent
- Total Updated: Number of times the Sales Agent automatically updated a lead’s information.
- Saved Time & Cost: See how much time and money you’ve saved
- Lead Handoffs: Track when Sales Agent flags leads for your attention
- Lead Management: View and mute leads directly from the reporting page
How does Pricing work?
You can choose the number of leads - or quota - that you would like the Sales Agent to be able to work. This simplifies the experience and gives you control over your cost and opportunities.
Your quota does not reset monthly. It is a running total of the leads that the Sales Agent is working on your behalf. You can increase or decrease your quota at any time.
The AI Sales Agent starts with 200 leads at $60 per month. Additional coverage can be added in increments of 100 leads ($30 per month).
Pricing is prorated based on the day of the month, but you will always receive the full lead amount. You will be charged the full amount in the following month.
How is usage calculated?
Any lead the AI Sales Agent has messaged is considered an engaged lead.
If you mute Sales Agent for a lead, either manually or using a Smart Plan, the lead will no longer be counted in the quota.
If the lead does not respond after 6 months of automatic follow-up, the lead will no longer be counted in the quota.
Managing your Sales Agent Quota
Any lead Sales Agent has messaged is considered an engaged lead. The Sales Agent will follow up with leads for 6 months by default. During this period, the lead will continue to count towards your quota (because the Sales Agent is still working on that lead).
If you mute the Sales Agent for a lead, either manually or using a Smart Plan, the lead will no longer be counted in the quota.
