Note: Lofty is rolling out in stages. Depending on the version your account is on, some features or screens described in this article may look different or may not yet be available to you.
Introduction
The Blog Block displays a preview of your most recent blog posts on any page of your website. Use it on your Home page or other high-traffic pages to surface fresh content, drive visitors to your blog, and improve time on site.
The block automatically pulls from your Blog Page and always shows your 3 most recent posts.
Before You Begin
- You must have a Blog Page set up on your website and at least one published blog post before the Blog Block will display content.
- Blog post order in the block is controlled by the sort setting in your blog posts list or by manually pinning a post.
Adding the Blog Block
- Open the Website CMS (from Lofty top nav: Content > Websites, then click your site).
- Select the page you want to edit from the Pages panel.
- Click Blocks in the left navigation to open the block library.
- Find the Blog block type and choose the style you want.
-
Drag the block to the position you want on the page canvas.
Configuring the Blog Block
-
Double-click the block, or hover and click the Edit icon in the top-right corner.
- Configure the following settings:
Title — Edit the heading displayed above the blog post previews (for example, "Latest Updates" or "From Our Blog").
Style — Change the visual layout of the block (card grid, list, etc.).
Spacing — Add spacing before or after the block to adjust its position on the page.
Categories — Filter which blog posts appear in this block by selecting specific categories. Categories are assigned when you write or edit a blog post. Leave this blank to show posts from all categories.
- Control post order using the blog posts list in your CMS settings:
- Pin a post to the top to always show it first.
- Sort by Published Date to show the most recently published posts first.
- Sort by Updated Date to surface recently edited posts first.
- Click Publish to apply your changes to the live site.
Tips
- Use category filtering for targeted pages. If you have a neighborhood page, filter the Blog Block to show only posts tagged with that neighborhood's category — keeping the content highly relevant to that page's audience.
- The block shows 3 posts. There is no option to change this number. If you want more posts visible, link visitors to the full Blog Page.
- Pin a featured post. Use the pin feature in your blog post list to keep an important or evergreen post at the top of the block regardless of when it was published.
- Keep your blog active. The Blog Block automatically pulls the most recent posts. If you haven't published a post in a while, the block will still show your last 3 — update them periodically to keep content fresh.
Troubleshooting
The Blog Block is empty / not showing any posts. Make sure you have a Blog Page on your site and at least one published blog post. If posts exist but aren't showing, check that the block's category filter isn't excluding all your posts.
The blog posts in the block are in the wrong order. Go to your blog post list in CMS settings and adjust the sort order (Published Date or Updated Date) or pin the post you want at the top.
I want to show more than 3 posts. The Blog Block is fixed at 3 posts. Add a link or button beneath the block directing visitors to your full Blog Page to see all posts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Blog Block update automatically when I publish a new post? Yes. The block always pulls the 3 most recent posts — no need to edit the block when you publish new content.
Can I have two Blog Blocks on the same page with different categories? Yes. Add a second Blog Block and set a different category filter on each one to display different topic areas side by side.
Can I use the Blog Block on a page that isn't the Home page? Yes. The Blog Block can be added to any page on your website.
