Introduction
Connect your Google Business Profile and Lofty publishes posts through Google's API on your behalf.
Finding the GBP Page
- In the Website CMS, look for GBP in the left navigation, between Blog and Areas.
- This page only appears if your website type is Full website or Hyperlocal website.
Note: If you don't have an active SEO Recurring subscription, you'll see a promo banner at the top of this page. You can still connect your own GBP account and post without it.
Connecting Your Google Business Profile
- If you haven't connected an account yet, the Posts area shows a connect guide.
- Click it to start Google's sign-in (OAuth) flow, and authorize access to your Google Business Profile.
- Once connected, your profile's avatar, business name, and "Connected · [location]" appear next to the page title.
To connect an additional profile or switch between profiles you've already connected, use the dropdown next to your connected profile. Selecting a different profile reloads the post lists for that account.
Creating a Post
- Click Add New.
- Choose a post type:
- What's New — a general update. Requires a description; image and call-to-action button are optional.
- Event — requires a title and start date; end date/time, description, image, and CTA are optional.
- Offer — requires a title and start/end date; coupon code, redeem link, terms, description, and image are optional. The CTA is fixed to View offer.
- Fill in the fields for your chosen post type.
Note: Descriptions are plain text (no rich text formatting) and support emoji, up to roughly 1,500 characters. You can attach one image (JPG or PNG, 5MB or smaller). Post type can't be changed after you create the post, so choose carefully.
Call-to-Action Buttons
Choose from Book, Order online, Buy, Learn more, Sign up, or Call now. Call now asks for a phone number; the others ask for a link.
Saving, Scheduling, and Publishing
When you're done editing a post, you can:
- Save draft — keep working on it later.
- Schedule — pick a future date and time; Lofty publishes it automatically at that time (Google Business Profile has no native scheduling, so Lofty handles this the same way it does for Blog posts).
- Publish now — the post goes live on your Google Business Profile immediately.
- Cancel — discard your changes.
Note: Once a post is live, its status stays in sync with Google. If Google rejects or takes down a post, Lofty updates its status to match automatically.
Managing Your Posts
Your posts are organized into four tabs, each sorted newest first and searchable by title:
| Tab | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Published | View live posts; click one to open it on Google. You can't edit or delete a published post from Lofty. |
| Scheduled | Edit or delete a post before it publishes. |
| Draft | Edit or delete a post in progress. |
| Trash | Restore a deleted post (it returns to Draft) or delete it permanently. |
Warning: Deleting a Scheduled or Draft post moves it straight to Trash — there's no confirmation prompt. If you delete a post by mistake, you can restore it from the Trash tab.
Note: Posts published by Lofty as part of your SEO Recurring package carry an Expert tag. Posts you create yourself never carry this tag.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I still need to add Lofty as a manager on my Google Business Profile? No. You connect your own account through Google sign-in, and Lofty publishes through Google's API instead.
Why don't I see the GBP page on my site? It's only available for Full website and Hyperlocal website types.
Can I edit a post after it's published? No — published posts can't be edited or deleted from Lofty. You can open them on Google to manage them there.
What happens if my post gets rejected by Google? Its status updates automatically in Lofty to reflect what happened on Google's side.
