Note: Lofty is rolling out in stages. Depending on the version your account is on, some features or screens described in this article may look different or may not yet be available to you.
Introduction
If you use a WordPress website outside of Lofty, you can embed Lofty IDX listing search and property display on your WordPress site using the Lofty IDX Plugin. This lets you display live MLS data on a third-party site while still routing leads into your Lofty CRM.
This is separate from your Lofty CMS website. This plugin is for external WordPress sites, not for sites built inside the Lofty CMS.
Before You Begin
- You need an active Lofty account with at least one MLS connected and approved.
- You need admin access to a WordPress site. -
Installing the Plugin
- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
- Go to Plugins > Add New.
- Search for Lofty IDX (or upload the plugin file if provided).
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
- After activation, navigate to the Lofty IDX settings page in your WordPress admin sidebar.
- Enter your API key from your Lofty account.
To find your API key in Lofty: Go to Settings > API Key Management in your Lofty account.
Displaying Listings with Shortcodes
Once the plugin is installed and configured, you can embed listing search and property displays on any WordPress page using shortcodes.
Common shortcode types include: - Listing search bar — lets visitors search your IDX listings - Featured listings — displays a selected set of listings - Map search — an interactive map view of available properties
External Website Widgets
If you use a website platform other than WordPress, Lofty also provides embed widgets — HTML code snippets you can paste into any website to display a search bar, listing grid, or map.
To access embed widgets: In the Lofty CMS, go to .
See [External Website Widgets] for details.
Tips
- Keep the plugin updated. Plugin updates often include compatibility fixes and new features — check for updates regularly in your WordPress dashboard.
- Test on a staging site first. Before installing on your live WordPress site, test the plugin on a staging environment to catch any compatibility issues.
