Introduction
CURRENTLY BETA TESTING.
We are currently beta testing a WordPress plugin that can display listings on your WordPress website. This plugin creates a connection between your WordPress website and your Lofty platform/CRM.
*IMPORTANT: Because this plugin is currently in beta, it will require manual configuration (by you) to get set up and will have certain limitations that will eventually be addressed with future updates. Please review this article closely to ensure you are aligned on how the plugin works in its current state.
The Beta version does not support automatic updates. The Lofty WordPress plugin package will be available in the marketplace soon. Current Beta users will need to purchase this package to access the latest and most comprehensive features of the WordPress plugin.
Summary
How to Qualify for the Beta Test
To qualify for this beta test, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- You must have a Lofty website. The plugin will not allow you to replace your Lofty website with a WordPress one. You must have both.
- Your Lofty website must be a "full website" (i.e. Company, Office, or Agent website). The plugin will not work if you have a Lofty subdomain website only.
- Your MLS must allow its data to be displayed on multiple website domains.
- You must have a WordPress website and be an admin on this WordPress website.
If you meet the above requirements and would like access to the WordPress website plugin, please complete Step 1 outlined below, then send a request to support@lofty.com.
Setup Instructions
Step 1: Apply to join the WordPress Beta
If you meet the qualifications outlined above, and would like access to the WordPress Plugin Beta, please send a request to support@lofty.com. We will grant you access to Step 2 as soon as possible.
Step 2: Connect Your WordPress Website with Lofty IDX
Navigate to Website > Site List and select Connect your WordPress site
Here, provide your WordPress site URL and we will generate a unique API key for the WordPress plugin.
Step 3: Get MLS Approval
First, Lofty will need to get approval from the MLS to display the data on the WordPress site. There is a possibility that the MLS will not approve this request. Navigate to the CMS website list and click your Wordpress site. Next, select Listings > MLS Integration. Click +Add New MLS to add an MLS to display on the WordPress site.
When the MLS is approved, the status will be Active.
Step 4: Get Installation File from Lofty
Once the MLS is active, reach out to support@lofty.com to get the latest Lofty plugin installation package.
Step 5: Install and Activate the WordPress Plugin
Please make sure you have the following prepared:
- The plugin installation file, received in Step 4
- This file must be manually installed by you on your WordPress website.
- The API key, received in Step 2.
- This key is specific to the Lofty plugin for your account.
Download the installation file and navigate to your WordPress backend settings > Plugins > Add New Plugin. Click the Add New Plugin button.
Next, click Upload Plugin and upload the installation file.
Once the plugin has been uploaded, it will be available in your list of plugins.
To activate the plugin, select it from the left menu and enter the API key. Click Save Changes.
Step 6: Configure the Listings Page to Display on WordPress
The plugin currently only supports displaying a Listing page on your WordPress site. No other pages are currently supported.
To add the listings page, you can either use an existing page or create a new page and give it the title you would prefer. Then, edit that page's URL/slug to "/listing" in the text box. Essentially, it will need to be configured like this, the part in blue being what you would add: https://samplewebsite.com/listing
Click Ok and save and publish. This should automatically make your listings page live on your website.
Step 7: Editing the Listings Page
Currently, the listings page cannot be configured directly on WordPress. The search conditions for your WordPress website will sync from the configuration on your Lofty website. The rest of the plugin-generated content cannot be adjusted. You can use the WordPress built-in editor to customize certain aspects of the page though.
Lead Activity & Tracking
When a lead has registered on the WordPress site, their activities will be tracked in the Lofty CRM similarly to the activities that are tracked on the Lofty website. This means that you can see what listings the lead is looking at, saving, and searching on the WordPress site in the lead's timeline in Lofty. The WordPress plugin does not currently track any activity beyond the WordPress listing pages. Only listing page activity is tracked.
The source of any lead registering on the WordPress website should be "WordPress Website" and cannot be customized.
FAQs
Q: Do I have to have a Lofty website and a WordPress website to use this plugin?
A: Currently, yes. future optimizations will potentially remove this limitation.
Q: Will the WordPress plugin push data on what the site visitor is looking at on the WordPress site back to the CRM?
A: Yes, but only for listing page activity and not for any of the other pages on the WordPress website. The data provided is similar to the data provided when a lead is browsing a Lofty-built website. After the lead registers on the WordPress site, you will have the lead name, listing, time, etc. synced to the activities timeline. Property alerts, CMA, and other site-related features are not supported for synching currently.
Q: Are both active and sold listing pages supported?
A: Yes, the Lofty widget automatically supports both active and sold listing pages being displayed on the WordPress website.
Q: If a property alert is sent from Lofty, will it redirect the lead back to the WordPress website?
A: No. Currently, they will be sent to the Lofty-built website and not the WordPress website. Future enhancements in this area are being explored.
Q: Are property addresses indexed into the actual WordPress site?
A: Not currently.
Q: Is the API key used for the plugin the same one on my integrations page?
A: No, it is a unique API key generated only for the WordPress plugin.
Q: Can I edit the font, theme color, etc. of the plugin content on my WordPress website?
A: No, not currently.
Q: Can I edit the listing layout?
A: No, not currently.
